About the event
Alan Bovingdon-Cox is a retired Police Officer and President of the Ridgeway Military and Aviation Research Group who meet regularly at RAF Welford.
Alan, a Military Aviation authority, specialising in Pearl Harbor is going to share his knowledge and show us what happened leading up to December 41 when the Japanese bombed the naval base. This attack brought America into the second world war.
He will take us through slides and photographs detailing the attack as it happens, the sequence of events and the ships that were sunk.
Alan’s knowledge of Pearl Harbour comes from years of investigation, research and also visits of Pearl Harbor.
Welford is an airfield based 5 miles north of Newbury and during the war it was used by both the RAF and United States Army Air Forces primarily as a transport airfield. After the war it was closed in 1946 and placed in reserve status.…
